Swedish meatballs are the ultimate comfort food — and homemade ones, in a rich gravy, leave the frozen freezer-aisle bags for dust. Our blend gives minced beef or pork that warm, nutmeg-and-allspice character that makes them so moreish. A cosy family dinner on the table in 30 to 40 minutes.
What it tastes like
Warm, savoury and comforting — nutmeg and allspice with black pepper, garlic, onion and parsley. Gently spiced and aromatic rather than hot, with that distinctive sweet-warm Nordic character.
Cook this tonight
- Mix through beef or pork mince, roll into meatballs and fry, then serve with a creamy gravy, mash and lingonberry (or cranberry) sauce.
- Make them in a tomato sauce with pasta for an easy midweek family dinner.
- Roll into a veggie mince or lentil mix for a meat-free version, just as comforting.
How to use it
A little goes a long way — one to two teaspoons is plenty for a family meal for four or five. Work it through your mince with a little onion, roll, and chill the meatballs for a few minutes before frying so they hold together. They're just as good with a veggie mince, so experiment.
