Our blend recreates that aromatic, satisfying flavour at home, so you can skip the takeaway and still get the real thing. A rich, crowd-pleasing curry on the table in 30 to 40 minutes.

What it tastes like

Warm, aromatic and medium-spiced — cumin and coriander with paprika, cardamom and fennel, rounded out by cinnamon, clove and nutmeg. A balanced, fragrant heat rather than fierce — full of flavour without blowing your head off.

Cook this tonight

• Fry the blend with onions, garlic and ginger, then add chicken, lamb or veg and tomatoes for a classic balti — serve with naan or rice.
• Make it meat-free with chickpeas, paneer or mixed vegetables in the same fragrant sauce.
• Use it dry as a rub on chicken or lamb before grilling or BBQing for a smoky twist.

How to use it

A little goes a long way — one to two teaspoons is plenty for a family meal for four or five. Fry the blend off in a little oil first to wake up the spices, then build your curry with onion, garlic, tomato and your choice of meat or veg. A balti is meant to be quick and high-heat, so keep things moving in the pan. It's just as good with veg as with meat, so experiment.
