Shawarma is one of the Middle East's best-loved street foods — and the takeaway version has nothing on the real thing made at home. Warm, smoky and gently spiced, our blend gives chicken, lamb or beef that irresistible caramelised crust. Pile it into wraps with garlic sauce and salad, and you've a kebab-shop favourite on the table in 30 to 40 minutes — without the late-night queue.

What it tastes like

Warm, smoky and aromatic — cumin and coriander with smoked paprika, allspice and cardamom for a sweet warmth, brightened by tangy sumac and lemon peel. Earthy, fragrant and just gently spiced, not hot.

Cook this tonight

  • Rub onto chicken thighs, lamb or beef, marinate, then grill, roast or pan-fry — pile into warm flatbreads with garlic sauce, pickles and salad.
  • Roast with cauliflower or chickpeas for a smoky veggie shawarma bowl.
  • Toss through roasted potatoes or rice for a fragrant Middle Eastern side.

How to use it

A little goes a long way — one to two teaspoons is plenty for a family meal for four or five. Loosen with a little oil and lemon, rub it well into your meat and let it marinate for as long as you can — even half an hour makes a difference. It's just as good on cauliflower, chickpeas and roast veg as it is on meat, so experiment.
